TROUBLESHOOTING

If you run into trouble, try some of the following things:

o Check your command line. Especially check the offset you
provided. The number of zeros in the 'offset' field could
easily be specified wrong. Every zero counts :)

o Make sure that nothing else is running on the serial port.
Common culprits include 'minicom' and 'pppd' (which you need
to stop, even if it's running from inittab)

o If your command is right, run 'vrflash' again. Sometimes the
PMON prompt is left in such a state that 'vrflash' can't cope
on startup. Running it a second time almost always fixes this.
Especially if you get the following, just run it again with the
same parameters and it should work:

"Starting etxack send (xmodem-load)...Error reading ACK"

o Power off your VR3, and use minicom to get to the PMON prompt.
Then *EXIT MINICOM* and run your 'vrflash' command.

o Make *SURE* you load xmodem-load.srec at least once after each
reset of your VR3. If you don't, 'vrflash' cannot send any
files you specify on the command line and will timeout.

o Check the permissions on your serial port. If you don't want to
run 'vrflash' as root, then make your serial port read/write for
      your group/user with chmod.

If none of the above works, you might try mailing the agenda-user
mailing list. There are many, many clueful folks on there, and
you will likely get a response from them very quickly. That is,
unless the Agenda guys mind using the list for this... ?

As a last resort, you may mail me for support. Don't expect an
immediate reply, as I get more mail than any 10 people I know.
However, if you do mail me, please include the following information:

  a) The version of 'vrflash' you're using
  b) The *exact* command line you're using
  c) The *exact* output of the command
  d) The 'capture.log' file ( make sure to use '-l' option)
  e) The output of 'file file-you-are-trying-to-flash'
  f) The type of system you're running 'vrflash' on

Note that if you simply mail me "It don't work" or some derivative
thereof, I'll probably just delete your mail rather than reply. But
if you provide good solid debugging info, I'll give you a gold star
  for the day ;-)
